On March 18th PatientOrderSets was very pleased to host The Honourable Greg Rickford, Minister of State (Science and Technology), in our offices. Minister Rickford toured our space, chatted with our staff, and watched a demonstration of our patient safety tools. The visit was a part of the Minister’s announcement of the Business Innovation Access Program, a new fund offered under NRC-IRAP.
Minister Rickford, who has a background working in nursing in Northern Ontario, noted the importance of the work we do by pointing out that delivering the best knowledge to the frontlines of care is vital for improving patient outcomes. We deeply appreciate his recognition of the diversity of our interprofessional team and the results we have achieved in deploying a network that spans across Canada.
Delivered by the National Research Council, the Business Innovation Access Program will offer SMEs hassle-free vouchers, valued up to $50,000 per project, to access business and technical services carried out by Canadian researchers and students. The benefits, however, are not only one-sided. While entrepreneurs will find commercialization and innovation business solutions, post-secondary researchers will be able to offer their students real-world business problems to tackle, preparing them for the actual business world.
