Newfoundland and Labrador’s Department of Health and Community Services and PatientOrderSets.com are pleased to announce that PatientOrderSets.com’s order sets and health technology solutions will be deployed to health care facilities across the province. This agreement covers over 40 hospitals and health centres along with long term care facilities, each of which will participate in PatientOrderSets.com’s collaborative order sets network.
Acute care, long-term care, and community health services in Newfoundland are managed by four Regional Health Authorities: Western, Central, Eastern, and Labrador/Grenfell. Each Regional Health Authority offers services across the full continuum of care, integrating health care for their populations. This partnership will see PatientOrderSets.com’s solutions rolled out across the province, enabling opportunities to support standardized, evidence based clinical best practices.
The Department of Health and Community Services provides a lead role in policy, planning, program development, and support to Newfoundland’s four regional health authorities and other mandated health and community service agencies. The department also monitors and provides feedback as appropriate to the regional health authorities and agencies with respect to program implementation, accountability issues, and health and community outcomes.
PatientOrderSets.com’s network of Canadian health care institutions now spans Canada from coast to coast to coast with over 270 participating hospitals and health centres. The truly national scope of our network connects health care providers of all kinds in a collaborative effort to improve care across the country.
Dr. Chris O’Connor, Founder of PatientOrderSets.com, said, “I’m very proud to be a part of the shared effort in patient safety across Canada. While PatientOrderSets.com is now also expanding into international markets, the enthusiasm of Canadian clinicians remains a key driving force behind our work.”
