{"id":19094,"date":"2020-10-27T11:26:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-27T15:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thinkresearch.com\/ca\/?p=19094"},"modified":"2021-10-25T16:59:53","modified_gmt":"2021-10-25T20:59:53","slug":"clinical-support-tools-and-covid-19-content-driving-key-improvements-in-long-term-care-survey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thinkresearch.com\/ca\/2020\/10\/27\/clinical-support-tools-and-covid-19-content-driving-key-improvements-in-long-term-care-survey\/","title":{"rendered":"Clinical Support Tools and COVID-19 content driving key improvements in long-term care: Survey"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A new Think Research survey highlights how our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkresearch.com\/ca\/programs\/onltc\/\">Clinical Support Tools for Long-Term Care Program<\/a>, including our COVID-19 tools and content library, deliver key benefits to the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The results show how the tools increase staff confidence in decisions, improve delivery of evidence-based and resident-centred care, and strengthen information sharing among teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clinical Support Tools (CSTs) cover common conditions and scenarios, including dementia, palliative and end-of-life, wound assessment, COPD, and hypoglycemia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This past summer, we surveyed Ontario clients using CSTs, including our updated COVID-19 library, about their impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Results show widespread and key benefits from using CSTs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>89 percent indicate improved ability to provide evidence-based care<\/li><li>85 percent indicate improved ability to share resident information among their inter-professional teams<\/li><li>81 percent indicate improvements in their ability to provide resident-centred care<\/li><li>85 percent indicate increased their knowledge of the CST\u2019s condition or presenting scenario<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Use of these tools can drive major real-world impacts. For example, after adopting our wound assessment CST, one long-term care home in Ontario\u2019s Niagara region saw a 47.8 percent decrease in residents experiencing wounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also have a large library of COVID-19 content for long-term and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkresearch.com\/ca\/products\/seniors-care-clinical-support-tools\/\">retirement care<\/a>, including resident and staff screening, to standardize your organization\u2019s response while reducing high-risk variance and ensuring decisions align with emerging best-practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A 160-bed home in the GTA has utilized our COVID-19 screening CST over 1,200 times since the start of the pandemic to ensure comprehensive screening for residents and staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe tools walk staff through a very clear checklist and set of questions. They can\u2019t miss a step or forget anything because it\u2019s right at their fingertips. The tools empower our nurses and staff with added confidence that they can easily get the answers they are looking for,\u201d the home\u2019s director says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen they go through the checklist and set of questions they can\u2019t miss or forget a step or symptom. It\u2019s straightforward.
