Think\u2019s survey found that Canadian clinicians are committed to furthering their medical education on topics that relate to post-pandemic care<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

TORONTO, ON, September 9, 2021 <\/strong> \u2013 Think Research Corporation, a company focused on transforming healthcare through digital health software solutions, today announced survey results showing six in 10 Canadian clinicians say mental health is the top healthcare issue they want to further educate themselves on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The survey, led by MDBriefCase<\/a>, the leading provider of continuing medical education and a member of the Think family of companies, found that nearly 62 per cent of healthcare providers ranked mental health is the most valuable therapeutic area of continuing education for them, signalling the importance of supporting patients\u2019 ongoing well-being coming out of the COVID-19 crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Research shows that mental health has declined across age groups during the pandemic, including children and adolescents<\/a>, adults<\/a>, frontline workers<\/a> and seniors<\/a>. Early mental health intervention and treatment is shown to improve outcomes and reduce healthcare spending<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Think\u2019s Senior Medical Advisor Dr. Naila Kassam<\/strong> said \u201cAlmost half of all Canadians say their mental health has worsened<\/a> since the start of the pandemic. The fact that clinicians report a strong desire to learn more about mental health and continue their education shows how seriously they are taking it as a core part of someone\u2019s overall well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs best practices and new medical knowledge continue to evolve in this space, it is imperative for healthcare providers to stay up-to-date in order to serve patients in the most effective way possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ranking in order of practice priorities, diabetes came in a close second (61 per cent), followed by heart conditions (59.5 per cent), and dementia\/other neurological conditions (52.9 per cent) as therapeutic areas that clinicians said would be most valuable to them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The survey also found 76 per cent of respondents said they will make time for continuing medical education courses if they are relevant to prioritizing post-pandemic patient care. This is significant because clinicians reported spending less<\/em> time on continuing medical education due to the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The survey included 441 healthcare workers across Canada, including physicians, pharmacists, and registered nurses, who are members of MDBriefCase\u2019s educational network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
