Virtual trials app developed with Sciteline supports clinical trials with remote enrolment, consent and monitoring, reducing barriers for participants

(Toronto, ON) September 18, 2020 Think Research, a Canadian health technology company, has partnered with Toronto-based startup Sciteline on a new application to support researchers in offering Virtual Clinical Trials (VCT).

The new Sciteline app decentralizes the clinical trial, reducing barriers for participants. Where geography and time constraints have traditionally prevented participants from joining clinical trials, Sciteline brings eConsent and monitoring right to their smartphone, meeting a participant where they are.

“One of the most common problems with Phase III clinical trials is that researchers can’t get enough people involved to complete them. That’s often exacerbated in Canada by our huge geography and relatively small population.” says Sachin Aggarwal, CEO of Think Research. “A safe, secure solution to conducting clinical trials virtually is crucial to pushing research forward in Canada, particularly now with the constraints of COVID-19 and we’re pleased our technology can support that.”

As part of its innovation push to respond to COVID-19, Think Research worked with Sciteline to deliver a platform that would respond to the needs of clinical trials. This latest partnership builds on the company’s previous work in the clinical trials space, which includes support for Covidtrials.ca, a non-profit platform that crowdsources patient recruitment to Canadian COVID-19 clinical trials.

Sciteline’s eConsent, electronic assessments and patient communication functions are compliant with all Canadian and U.S. regulatory requirements and all data is stored on a secure Canadian cloud-based platform.

“We are thrilled to be partnered with Think Research to bring our vision for Sciteline to life,” says Chad Walsh, CEO of Sciteline. “Our solution removes some of the traditional barriers of clinical trials, lowers the cost of conducting research and speeds up the important work that scientists are doing to test drugs that could make people healthier and even save their lives.”
